ARTS ALIVE! – Paris – Diane Feuillet at La Petite Galerie

Arts Illustrated visited Paris in September of 2013, and this is the second article in five of our series ARTS ALIVE! – Paris. While enjoying the wonderful city, we were looking to discover as much of the current Paris art scene as we could in our (sadly) limited time. In a major world city such as Paris, high rents are to be expected, so many of the galleries and ateliers have to do a lot with a little. Almost all of the galleries we visited tended to be on the small side, with one or two exceptions. However, it was wonderful to come across La Petite Galerie on the rue de Seine. If there is a smaller gallery in the world, I guess it would have to be a closet.

As it is, La Petite Galerie is really the size of your average hallway, but what a hallway!  Presenting serious, interesting, contemporary and beautiful artwork. While a large room with big walls and perfect light is always appreciated, La Petite Galerie demonstrates how much can be done with very little. Bravo!

On our visit the current Art Show (Exposition), featured the wonderful paintings of Diane Feuillet in acrylics and oil pastel.

Diane’s work shows a thoughtful sensitivity and subdued expression of the natural surroundings in her native country. Her works give a feeling of nostalgia and also a sense of the quiet power of nature.

When we came to the gallery, we were greeted by the artist herself, Diane Feuillet. It appears to be the case that when a person has a show at the gallery, they also have to host the show while it is there. This makes sense because there isn’t any room for anyone else. Our French is not very good and Diane’s English wasn’t any better, but when people are sincerely interested in and love art, it is amazing how well they can communicate and develop a friendly bond.

Diane is an extremely accomplished, young artist and it was a pleasure to meet her and enjoy her work.  Diane’s website shows a wonderful overview of her work.
