Interview with photographer Anson Anthony —

1. Who are you, and what do you do?
I am Anson Antony and i am predominantly a lover of  Fashion Photography and a Fine Art Photography.

2. Why art?
I was always interested in watching the minute details in nature right from childhood. I developed this interest in art through observing nature and it was a natural passion which I nurtured even before establishing myself as a fashion photographer.

3. What is your earliest memory of wanting to be an artist?
In my family, my uncle was very passionate about art and from a very early age he encouraged me to do sketches and paintings. I got recognized for my art works in school level occasionally and soon I decided art was my career.

4. What are your favorite subject(s) and media(s)?
As going with natures creation, Women and the very beauty of our untouched nature itself are my inspiration and always been my favorite subject..

5. How do you work and approach your subject?
Once a concept is born in my mind, I discuss it with my team (stylist,makeup artist etc) and make an elaborate plan about the mood of the shoot. This includes the location, style and makeup. Following this a model will be selected best suiting my concept.

6. What are your favorite art work(s), artist(s)?
The photographers who inspired me a lot are Prabuddha Das Gupta, Guy Bourdin, Annie Leibovitz.

7. What are the best responses you have had to your work?
The best and one of the funniest I should say was when my mother who knew least of what I had been doing got requests from youngsters to convince me onto giving a chance for them to work with me. She is of the opinion that I am just roaming around with my camera and she was shocked at the responses I was getting from my home town suddenly.

8. What do you like about your work?
I am never completely satisfied with my work. I always find something in which I need to improve or experiment with. Mostly I end up thinking I could have done that work in a different way had it been today. But I guess that’s how life is.. you are never complete. There is always another day to improve.

9. What advice would you give to other artists?
Always follow your dreams and never ever give up no matter how tough or unpractical it looks in the beginning. Be yourself and never compromise your art for anything.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
My dream is to travel around the world and explore myself as an artist. Use this experience and experiment with my work. Exhibit my works in the best galleries around the world. So obviously that what I see myself doing in the coming years.
