For being considered “the best literary work ever written.”
The novel consists of two parts: The ingenious hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha, published dated 1605, although printed in December 1604, at which time which should already have been readable in Valladolid and the second part of the ingenious Knight Don Quixote of La Mancha, published in 1615.

Don Quixote, the protagonist of the novel, is a noble gentleman who decides to go out in looking for adventure Tradition imposes, according to the readings that serve as inspiration, let every noble gentleman have a lady in his heart whom dedicate his victories to her. So he creates his ideal woman, which he called Dulcinea. del Toboso.
In all adventures, master and squire Sancho Panza, they keep conversations. Little by little, they reveal their personalities and forge a friendship based on mutual respect, although Sancho clearly realizes the folly of his lord and takes advantage of this to distort reality for him, generally to get out of a jam he puts him in.
In the end, Don Quixote falls ill, but he finally returns to sanity and abominates with lucid reasons for the nonsense of the books of chivalry, although not of the ideal chivalrous.
