Artist Mina Radovic –

I am Mina Radovic, PhD in fine arts, from Belgrade. My subject I am investigating in my work, is the dominant issue in the global culture.

Namely, I am exploring the problematic of the perception of the female body in the contemporary, consumerist- oriented, culture, or more precisely, the way it is reflecting on the body itself, corporeality.

Thanks to mass media and the contemporary way of life, we adopted discipline, supervising and repression of our beings and bodies as the only tenet we are to follow. Behind the illusion that it’s our own choice.

The body in my paintings is shaped as a stone, seemingly it’s a sculpture, but it is rebelling against the dominant framework, against the petrified reality. My work is an open longing for the solving of this issue.

The trends of the enslaving of the female’s freedom and individuality are accepted globally.

Through the interaction that might be encouraged in your country, I would like, not only to express the personal comprehension of the manipulating female sexuality problems, but to enrich my own knowledge through the interchange of views on this problematic. This will contribute to the spreading of the consciousness about the current position of woman’s identity in this generally accepted order.
