Sandra Pita — ARTIST

Sandra Pita

Interview with artist Sandra Pita —

1. WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU DO?
Sandra Pita Soares, born in Nampula, Mozambique in 1971. My biggest business card is ME, the person I am in the world and for the world! The freedom and compassion I can share through my painting, color and movement. I am the spectator and protagonist of each of my canvases.

2. WHY ART?
Art is living, it is dreaming, it is the possibility of traveling in dreams and realizing each one of them.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MEMORY OF WANTING TO BE AN ARTIST?
Since I was a little girl, when I scribbled on some papers… life ended up making me separate from art, because they said that art didn’t make money… it is in doing what guides our heart; everything that is done with love, can only work!

4. WHAT ARE THE SUBJECTS AND THE FAVORITE “MEDIA”
I don’t like to hear misfortunes or watch the news. We are the builders and conductors of our life; each of us is capable of changing the world a little. I prefer to believe in hope, smiles and hugs. I prefer to look at a world in which dreams of different colors are possible to live! Just like my canvases, always with lots of color. Every day I try to be a little better and make a difference.

5. HOW DO YOU WORK AND APPROACH YOUR SUBJECT?
I can only work with inspiration and soul.

6. WHAT ARTISTS INSPIRE YOUR ARTWORKS?
My works are mostly dedicated to Fernando António Nogueira Pessoa (Lisbon, Mártires, June 13, 1888 – Lisbon, Santa Catarina, November 30, 1935) was a poet, philosopher, playwright, essayist, translator, publicist, Portuguese astrologer, inventor, entrepreneur, commercial correspondent, literary critic and political commentator.
I like all my works, because they are all the fulfillment of my dreams and aspirations; I find myself on every canvas, as a person, an artist and with all my soul. There is a little bit of me, my family, my friends and the way I describe the world… the one I aspire to, the one I believe is possible.

7. HAT ARE THE BEST ANSWERS YOU’VE HAD TO YOUR WORK?
You have color, life and your canvases represent you! I find you in every canvas you paint😊

8. WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR WORK?
The smell of paints, the thinner, the touch of brushes, the softness and calm that I get when I paint.

9. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER ARTISTS:
Never stop dreaming! Dreaming is realizing, it’s challenging, it’s happening!

10. HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE (5 TO 10 YEARS)
I don’t make a lot of long-term projections; I prefer to believe in the now and in what God gives me day by day. I prefer to walk this path, in a daily hope that allows me to take, travel and show my art. My art, which translates my emotions and my joy of living. I consider that family and friends are with me on this journey of victories and great challenges. With them it is always easier to go this long way.
