1. Who are you and what do you do?
My stage name is Waterflower. I create music and visual art.

2. Why music?
Music has been my favourite form of expression since I was little. I’m a tireless creator.I think I can’t sit still for longer than 40 minutes and not create something. That coupled with patience and the will to finish things is my main drive.

3. What is your earliest memory of wanting to be involved in music?
I think partially it’s the Spice Girls fault, as far as I remember, when I was 7, they were the first thing I was ever a fan of. But also I watched a lot of Art Attack. I drew a lot. All that seems very far off after 11 years of academic art studies in Latvia.

4. How do you work and approach a new piece that you are working on?
I really appreciate every person who has come to see me live, or listens to me at home. Giving the time to listen to my music is the best complement ever, and it’s so simple, too.

5. What are your favourite musician(s), singer(s)?
I really love the Hyperpop, Glitchcore and Avantgarde Electronica that is happening in the “internet underground” music right now. There’s a real sense of community. From A. G. Cook, Hannah Diamond, to Dorian Electra, Slayyyter, Soul Bandit. I love them!

6. What are the best responses you have had to your work?
I really appreciate every person who has come to see me live, or listens to me at home. Giving the time to listen to my music is the best complement ever, and it’s so simple, too.

7. What do you like about your work?
I’m glad I have the energy for what I do. It’s the fuel behind my work. 30 years and I haven’t run out yet. I’m curious where I will go next.

8. What advice would you give to other musicians?
Don’t hold back – share. My advice for people starting out is – don’t hide it, flaunt it. Your art.

9. Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
In ten years, I hope to composing music for film, and have established myself as an artist, art director and have a lovely team at my own disposal, working on an animation film (my own one).
